A numbered ticket was given out for every print there was so they could keep track of the one per person policy, regulars and variants.nobokov wrote:Yeah, terrible advice posted by TRPS. I guess they forgot to mention that they would only be giving out numbers to 100 people. Next year will definitely have to be a camp out situation if anyone wants to buy a Sperry.maddog76 wrote:I was about 5 people too late to get a TRPS. Don't believe that bullshit about not needing to get there early.
I would argue there were faaaar more people at TRPS this year than I've ever seen there in the past and the regulars/staff all seemed to agree. Emek was getting worked by his twenty tickets, averaging 20 minutes per customer (they were calling #12 at 1pm) and didn't stop remarking people's stuff until most of his booth was broken down around him after 6pm. Spusta sat down at his chair at 10am and also was working until after break down. Pollock's table was completely ravaged and bare by 2pm. The other end of the hall with Sperry and Mouse back-to-back was shoulder to shoulder until at least 3pm, they're lines completely filled the walk way for hours.

A few factors led to way bigger lines than we've ever seen ...maddog76 wrote:I was about 5 people too late to get a TRPS. Don't believe that bullshit about not needing to get there early.
1) Chris Shaw and Alex Fischer went on KTVU Friday morning and had a 4-5 minute segment about the festival. TRPS folks were saying the website got a ton of traffic and TRPS membership signups right after it aired. See here ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzk8jJN ... e=youtu.be
2) Chuck's print was teased and then previewed in full after the "don't worry about getting there early" advice. I had no idea Chuck did the print when I was saying "eh, come at like 8:30 - 9, you'll be fine" in the TRPS thread.
This was my 11th TRPS and by far the most packed I've ever seen, and it was the classic poster collectors as well. As Corey alluded to above, Stanley Mouse had a line at least 10-15 deep the entire day, what a machine he was. I've never seen the classic artists have such deep pools of people consistently throughout the day.
The variant release at Chuck's booth around 1 PM ... that was frothy. There's a pretty insane panorama pic that'll get posted eventually of the folks 3-4 deep for the 270 degrees of Chuck's booth. It was nuts.

Awesome. So great to see that our scene is as vibrant and exciting as ever, thanks in large part to artists like squirt, spusta and pollock. Fantastic.

Couldn’t make it out this year - but fantastic news for all artists in attendance that the turnout was so great! TRPS is consistently one of the best run and most fun shows to attend.
