Tom Whalen (Strongstuff)

About: "raised by feral robot wolves in the backwoods of northeastern pennsylvania and nourished on a steady diet of comic books, arnold schwarzenegger movies and swedish fish, tom has a high-pitched, metallic voice in his head that compels him to endlessly churn out all sorts of vectorized madness. infatuated with all things giant, japanese and city-destroying, tom is a confessed monster junkie who cannot wait for earth to be overrun by either zombies or vampires so that he can field test the wooden-stake-firing chain gun that he’s been working on in his basement for the past 37 or so years.

he also adores kittens."

Dave Perillo (Montygog)

About: "Dave Perillo was born in 1974, the same year Wham-O introduced the Slip N’ Slide…coincidence? In 1st grade, Dave revealed in his autobiography “Me Book”, that when he grew up he would like to be Ziggy. This ambition was deflated by 2nd grade when he realized that A) Ziggy is not real, B) Ziggy is completely bald, and C) Ziggy wears no pants. While the thought of going throughout life sans pants was somewhat appealing he decided to pursue his second choice, a career in art. Dave draws inspiration for his work from many of the following sources: 1950’s Sci-Fi Movies, Charles Schultz, Jim Flora, Ray Harryhausen, Roy Lichtenstein, Jim Henson, Hanna Barbera, The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock & Character Advertising Icons. Dave currently resides in the burbs of Philly, works as an illustrator, believes that bowling is the sport of kings and a bag of Swedish Fish is a seafood dinner.

Current Residence: philly burbs
Favourite genre of music: ska
Favourite photographer: my wife
Favourite style of art: Pop Art
Operating System: Mac OS10
MP3 player of choice: Nano
Shell of choice: Smucker's Magic Shell
Wallpaper of choice: anything with robots fighting unicorns

I hadn't seen that Whalen Nightmare Before Christmas or Aliens piece before, as well as the Perillo Oz piece. I really like those three.

Hmmm. Well, Tom put up the teaser in July 2011 and said the poster is "from a series that'll be released next year."

Because it's on Dribbble, I don't think it's mondo since artists don't usually preview Mondo stuff (Tong and Moss did before but it was Mondo Gallery stuff). I'm also pretty sure it's not for Crazy 4 Cult New York. I would think the poster would be for the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, since Tom has done lots of posters for them before.

It might be for this screening on July 6, 2012: http://thecolonialtheatre.com/2012/even ... -street-4/

and I guess by series he means part of the First Friday Night Fright -- which I believe he used to do.

That's great news if he's going to continue the Colonial theatre FFFN series :)

Some good posters came out of that. And maybe this time we will see screenprints, and indicated by the 5th Element screenprint that was recently released, where the FFFN original was a giclee.

Hear, hear! I met both of these guys at Wizard World Philly this year. Both are class acts and are some of the nicest guys in the business. I specifically had an enjoyable conversation with Tom. Cool dude!
