how does this affect the value of a poster?

seems like it is glued/drymounted to foam backing board

any info would be great - thanks

i am assuming there is now to unmount it..right?

probably because it's the easiest/cheapest way to mount something during framing.

If they don't plan to sell it, and just want it displayed in a cheap and dirty fashion this is a way to do it.

I assume that the second part of your question was if there was a way to un-drymount it?
Not really. Not anything that I've heard of.

And while it varies depending on how rare/in demand the print is, I'd say that 50% is a reasonable starting point. If it's something more common or just not sought after, you could be looking at even far less than that. But a collection figurehead piece (like some '96-'98 Pearl Jam prints or a Kozik Green or Pink lady) that's drymounted may still pick up 60% or more of a NM one - depends on who's looking for it at that moment more than anything I guess.

drymounting a poster is the equivilent of stripping and refinishing a piece of antique furniture. I'm a bit more critical...I would say it kills 70%-80% of the print's value. as stated above, it depends on how rare it is.

drymounting a poster means its no longer a poster, its a poster glued to a piece of foamcore. itll never be just a poster again, and i dont know many postersgluedtofoamcore collectors.

I thought "drymounting" a poster meant doing naughty things to it.
