Nice work, Dan. The Shoreditch mural is especially impressive to me, given how quickly you painted it. The layout of the panels alone seems like it would have taken a couple days.

Thanks!

I try to paint these huge scale murals in a less is more approach. The art of painting without painting almost, so suggesting form by minimal and subtle use of light. it allows huge scale work like this, the toughest aspect was getting the perspective right, as the road is right in front of the wall so I couldn't stand back to look, I had to dash into the middle of the road when the was no traffic ( not often in London!!! ) or had to wait and cross the road to get a shot of my camera to check it was all working. Once I had the composition nailed, I then cracked into painting the piece and only really stepped away once it was finished. So it was a real solo mission for me, and one I am proud of!

So I painted this today, on the back wall of my studio, it's my urban landscape 'Horizons' - I feel I could do with tightening up and some more details and depth, but I am rarely happy with walls I paint, so I don't think i'll be adding any more to this.

Canvas versions of this piece are available from my shop

Very cool stuff Dan. As a Kitchener I am happy to see this. My immediate family (dad-grandad-great grandad + cousins) were sign painters by trade, and have quite a bit of their personal art + tools here.

That is Fred M. Kitchener 1917. The talent was not passed on to me for sure.

Thanks :)

I love technology as well as traditional creative techniques, myncommutenhome from London is now my mobile studio, sketch in my sketch book, quick iPhone pic, mail to myself, coloured and cropped on my ipad2, possible future wall collaboration sketch.... Anyway thought I'd share this process....

So today i thought I'd have a proper go at letters, this is really my second attempt, first was couple years back at Lakeside and it looked so rubbish, so I haven't uploaded it. Anyway really enjoyed painting this today, nice a free flowing, no plan, no sketch, just had a vague idea and wanted to see what happened, quite pleased with the result.

Here's another digital speed paint

This was created entirely on my new ipad2 whilst sitting at JFK airport last November, the inspiration was from the rainy cab ride from manhattan to JFK, hope you like this, I may be painting this on a large scale canvas!
