Not sure if everyone saw the card Gallery 1988 sent out in their newsletter and on twitter, so here it is.

Hidden in the card are hints of whats to come for 2012.

First thing, I wonder if the name tags of artists mean those are planned solo shows.

Also for themed shows, I obviously see the Adult Swim which was already announced. Anyone see anything else?

I think the drum sets are from Step Brothers, maybe a Will Ferrell show.

From the adult swim thread:

The shows the card is hinting at....

Master Shake = [Gallery 1988 x adult swim] on January 13, 2012
Crow = The Hitchcock Tribute Show on april 13, 2012
LOLcat = The Memes show on May 4, 2012

Is This Thing On? 2 is on March 9, 2012 but I dunno which on the picture it refers to.
NES = some video game show. Likely retro.

So if Steve Martin Banjo is "Is This Thing On? 2", The stuff that is left it...

Weird Al Lamp (Weird Al Show?)
Statue of Liberty (??? show)
Hook with a Banana (??? show)
Drum kit "Do Not Touch" (Stepbrothers/Will Ferrell Show?)

Didn't think to look in that show topic. Better use the search bar next time. At least it has its own thread now.

The banjo has SM on it. And Steve Martin is an accomplished banjo player.

So there's that.

Hmmm Dave Perillo and Tom Whalen are part of the same groups (autumn society and the philladelphia cartoonist society, among others)and I believe they're pals. Both from Philly. Would be sweet if they had a group show together. Last year those guys and scott derby teamed up for one of the shows. If Tom Whalen comes to Cali I can get some of my Mondo stuff signed too!

Could the statue of liberty refers to opening a gallery in NYC or holding a show there?

There has to be somebody out there who charges more for shipping. I just don't know who it could be...

The hook and banana....That could be an Arrested Development show yeah? From what I remember hearing the new episodes aren't set to air until 2013, but I guess that doesn't really matter.

guaranteed to be the best two-man show since tango & cash. @mockingbirdred: @Galleries1988 Tom Whalen + @Montygog Solo or Team shows?!?

:D :D :D

The Memes Show on May 4, 2012 is the eight year anniversary show for Gallery 1988, so it's going to be pretty big. There is also talk of doing a Smodcast Podcast Network show (mentioned last July), but I don't know if it will come to fruition anytime soon. I hope so though. Tell 'em Steve-Dave needs some silkscreens.

There was also talk of Gallery 1988 doing a tour...which might be what the Statue of Liberty hints at.

anybody hear what the two shows for Gallery 1988 will be in February? No flyers were given out during the adult swim show or anything? Can't find any info at all. Might be two solo shows. Whatever it is, I hope it's not the Perillo/Whalen show yet. That would bankrupt me.

Oh wait. Just found one. Kurt Halsey's final solo show. Ever.

I have drawn since the moment I could hold a pencil. I always wanted to be a newspaper cartoonist. My drawings and paintings are little moments and simple thoughts, and I’m not sure they need to mean anything more than that.

My last show is in February of 2012 at Gallery 1988 Venice, Los Angeles. The dates for the show are Feb 3rd – Feb 25th, 2012.

Roland Tamayo's Solo show at Gallery 1988 is in October 2012.
