I don't think anyone is going to be doing collage posters... I think CodeBlue is right and they didn't get rights to likenesses. I think we will see lots of monsters and landscapes... Maybe a few shadowy figures here and there.

Nah. They've been very specific in that, if they're going to do something, they're going to do it right. Eg. they had the Ghostbusters license, but because they couldn't work out likeness stuff they decided to just not do it.
I can't see them committing to a whole LotR series without working it out like they did with Star Wars (bunch of art prints, then a few traditional posters).
