Yes. In the construction industry it's called low-e (low emissivity) glass. thegrumble guys don't really recommend low-e for framing art - not sure how effective it would be used as a flat file top. It not something that's used as a single-pane unit...usually used in double-pane situation. The low-e coating is easily scratched, but might not a big problem since the coated side would be installed face-down on the cabinet.

I've wanted to do the same with my FF but the wife says no due to the possibility of breaking.
The sharp corners on the flat file cabinets would more likely cause more injuries. Be that injuries to small children or grown drunks. I speak from experience, carrying a small scar above my right eye. (Injury caused by a coffee table incident as a small child...not as a drunk.) ;) Word from the wise: Get rid of or relocate all coffee-table-like furniture (even if temporary) with toddlers in the house.

Hoping to grab a wooden file in the future but this works for now. I have to thank Peacedog for telling me where to get one on the cheap.

I have collected glass art longer than graphic art, there is some great sculpture coming out. This is one of my top 3 I have now. Perhaps one day I'll try it out but most likely not. It's way to pretty to dirty up. :-D

Update

Big thanks to rockbridge for making me a top to fit my flat file. Finally finished painting / sealing this weekend and JUST got it in my apartment.

I'm quoting this because I was back-reading tonight, and I can't stop laughing. That totally looks like a beige dong with a cute little pink head.

Also, congrats on getting the top, Billy! I was THIS CLOSE to seeing it all put together in person, apparently. ;)
