I had a conversion with Framing Devil about this and he said the older generation, around his age, loves simple frames and he would never do any themed frames because his parents had really extravagant frames for all their artwork. He said this generation is a little more out their with their framing choices and think of it as an extension of the piece.

He did this one for me:

I used to do different color mats and frames and fudge when I was a dumb kid. Now it's all white mats and black frames. #oldandboring

P.S.

In my experience/opinion simple black or white frames don't always do that.

Yeah you would think that, but living here with this hobby is a pain since every single print is in inches and stores like IKEA only have frames fixed to centimeters. Not only that but my "go to" framer, who gave me good deals has retired :(
Measure/convert the print to cm or vice versa. I'm in a metric system country too, no problem so far.
Yeah, well.. do you have "standard frames" based on cm or inches?

That's on the cheap end, no? I thought his larger works (Street size etc) were more around the $60k aud (45k usd).
