Yes I agree, maybe we should look at the aesthetic nature of the prints separately.
Look at these prints, one 2017, one 2018 , and they go together well in my opinion .
Anyone else found interesting pairings ? Maybe the “ sunglasses ad” goes with something more
apocalyptic ?

I think each side of the print has some cool aspects. As far as a composition, the 2 sides don’t
Seem to go together ,it’s disjointed. Each side is nice, Maybe that is his concept, separation Anne lack of harmony. and being edgy .
Of this series , welcome visitors, and drink crude are my favorite, and I believe will stand the rest of time
I can’t seem to want to buy golden future , but maybe I’m missing out.
That's too bad, easily the best printing of the series. The layers and depth on the left print is far superior to the others.

Totally agree! I sold my Welcome Visitors, just didn't care for the lady on it at all. Ended up buying Golden Future since I missed getting it on the drop and prefer the images.

But best of the series is easily Target Exceptations IMO.

Target Expectations doesn’t do it for me but I can see the appeal. I consider Welcome Visitor to be his strongest in this ‘series’, with Crude Oil not far behind. Also looking forward to see more in this style as I personally dig it.

oh man, i thought the print sold in person was of the new street work Vhils and Shep did, oh well. I still hope they make that into a print. Its an amazing street piece

See, i think that juxtaposition is exactly the point. For most of the white population the future is bright and clean as well as carefree just like a sunglasses ad. For the minorities, it's not so clear.

I love the the left side of Welcome Visitor but the right side doesn't carry much of a message for me.

Target Exceptions is a good print and i understand the appeal.

I was lucky enough to see all of this series in person aside from Wrong Path and my original comment on my preference for GFfS is based on how the ink looks on the paper, not content. I would never assert that someone's opinion on the content is incorrect.

Edit: Found a pic I took of Target Exceptions. They just didn't pull off that illusion of depth quite as well

Target Exceptions is my favorite from that series, too. While we're on the topic, here are some photos of the canvas that I took at Damaged:

Target Exceptions is the prettiest but not the best.

The left side of Golden Future and Drink Crude are my favs.

Target just reminds me of a campy show from the 70s.

New Golden age of Shepard Fairey

I believe this body of 9 prints represents the now advanced state of Shepard’s work
in realizing compelling figurative imagery, utilizing attractive colors, sharp design compositions ,
while addressing important topics of our day. With his street roots on walls with torn paper
where the images compete against noise, but the verbal message still powerfullu communicates .
I think history will see this as a start in his mature work . I invite everyone’s constructive comments
and would love to hear others opinions

1.Drink Crude oil 2/17
2.ideal Power 5/17
3. Welcome Visitors. 5/17
4. Target Exceptions. 6/17
5 Bias by Numbers. 7/17
6. Golden Future. 10/17
7. Wrong Path. 11/17
8 Oil Lotus Woman. 1/18
9. Embrace Justice. 1/18

About me... I’m a painter, art collector and art history buff. I never gave Fairey’s work much thought
as it seemed more like poster/ rock art than serious fine art . When I first saw and bought “Drink Crude Oil,
my opinion changed, deeply studied his catalog and bought 60 prints in the last year that I thought worthy of
investment from 1996 ‘Tanks’ prints up to the present. I have not sold any , and plan on leaving them to my kids
