‘Enlightened 1’ | by: Jeff Wood

Image

A word from the artist: ‘The inspiration for this piece came from my painting instructor, Robert Venosa. Venosa's piece, ”Enlightenment” featuring a symmetrical Buddha in the middle of a signature exploding abstract, is one of my favorites. As a screen print poster artist who usually works in flat color and linework, strangely, my oil paintings fall more into the fantastic realism of painters like Venosa, Giger, Ernst Fuchs, Hoffmann, and Rubinov. This image was created using digital pastel brushes that I custom built to mimic the technique I use when laying down an underpainting on canvas. It’s a definite nod to my Maestro Venosa after his passing and the influence he had on me as a painter and human. This piece honors his memory. I miss him dearly.’

This serigraph print, based off of the original digital painting, was broken down into a dozen layers of rich blues and blacks to capture its full range and depth. Printed on heavy archival cotton rag with hand torn edges. Sized at 20 x 30 inches, it was produced in a limited edition of 130. Each print is finished with Jeff Woods’ signature, hand numbered, and embossed with the Neon Eye insignia.

‘Voodoo (Purple)’ | by: Jermaine Rogers

Image

‘Cosmic soul… electric voodoo: one could be convinced that he was from another world entirely. Maybe, in the next world, he’s waiting for the rest of us.’

This purple colorway has been produced exclusively for Neon Eye in a limited edition of 30. Each screen printed on archival cotton rag, 18 x 24 inches in size, signed and numbered by the artist, embossed with the Neon Eye insignia.

‘The State of Our Union’ | by: Jermaine Rogers

Image

Pulled from the depths of Jermaine Rogers’ archive... and so it seems, history is cyclical.

Here we present the fine-art rendition of this powerful, topical artwork. From a now much-sought-after Radiohead poster depicting the state of the country through the eyes of Jermaine Rogers, THEN…. who could've guessed that it would be just as appropriate now. If not more so.

Produced at approximately 30 x 18 inches in size with bright, saturated inks. This silkscreen is signed and numbered in a limited edition of 70. Printed on archival cotton rag, finished with hand torn edges, and embossed with the Neon Eye insignia.

‘Unmade Bed’ | by: Eyesore

Image

Street artist, Eyesore’s unmistakable style and composition is a common sight for any inhabitant of Houston, TX. His distinct bold, inked lines flow from electrical boxes to gallery walls. Neon Eye has produced ‘Unmade Bed’ as a single stencil silkscreen, on archival cotton rag, with a subtle metallic split fountain blend. Produced in a limited edition of 70 pieces, signed & numbered by the artist. Finished with hand torn edges & embossed with the Neon Eye insignia.

Additionally, Neon Eye will be offering an option to purchase each print, ready to hang, housed in a custom designed contemporary frame. Each assembled professionally using archival museum quality materials.

In 2009, the artist collective known as POST NEO EXPLOSIONISM (Jermaine Rogers, Emek, & Justin Hampton) released a striking collaborative silk-screened art print: 'The 27 Club'. The image has become a defining tribute to the pantheon of rock-and-roll's legends who fell victim to their 27th year. Musicians featured in this classic image include Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, and Robert Johnson.

Now, a decade later, PNE has released the '27 Club' Decade Edition introducing two additional members: Amy Winehouse + Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan. The full sized Decade Edition prints instantly sold out over at Collectionzz, and we are now pleased to offer the mini-print versions with the same papers offered in the recent sale, here at Neon Eye.

In celebration of the legacy of Kurt Cobain, Neon Eye would like to present the keyline edition print of 'Underneath the Bridge'. Originally commissioned by the Experience Music Project (or EMP- now named MoPop) in Seattle for their 2011 exhibit called 'Nirvana, Taking Punk to the Masses'. This print is Justin Hampton's personal interpretation of the song 'Something in the Way' from the ground breaking album 'Nevermind'. Approximate print size: 18 x 24 inches. Single layer serigraph on Cranes archival cotton rag with hand torn edges. Each copy comes with a hand rendered remarque (sketch) in pencil with a theme from the lyrics. Signed, numbered & embossed limited edition of only 50.

From the artist:
'I love the way the original 8 color version of the art print turned out but there's something truly special in just seeing the bare art unobstructed by any additional colors. There's a lot going on in this particular piece and it's nice to see it as it was originally hand illustrated in pen, ink and brush.' -JH

These 20x26 inch limited edition serigraphs are signed by both Mark Lanegan & Justin Hampton. Printed in four versions: French Cement Green, Imperial Red, White Cotton Rag, and Metallic Black Onyx. Each is hand numbered, embossed, and includes a certificate of authenticity + frameable lyric sheet of 'The Gravedigger's Song by: Mark Lanegan. Smaller 8x10 inch prints of each version are also available.

As a reflection of this moment we’re all living in, we would like to present to you these newly realized editions of Justin Hampton’s artwork originally designed for the Mark Lanegan Band 2012 Blues Funeral tour. Here are some words about ‘The Days of Pandemia’ from the artist:
'This is a surreal time in our collective history and a very unnerving moment in all of our lives. The image is a representation of something that seemed like it could never happen to us, something that modern scientific advances had left in the dusty pages of the historical record. Although that was a different condition in a different time, the image of the Plague Doctor has resonated with a lot of people in these unsure times. How do we stay safe? How do we deal with this? Should we be scared? Will this pass? Will science ultimately defeat this? There is so much uncertainty right now, including so many people losing their ways of life. Most people are sheltering at home with ‘social distancing’.

Along with so many people Mark and I have lost our way to make an income, with his touring, and myself making poster art for bands concerts. What was to be Mark’s upcoming European tour was cancelled. All of my already produced posters for what was to be upcoming gigs have also been cancelled. We’re thinking outside of the box here in offering this print without a concert to go with it. I’ve always wanted to make an art print of this image and flesh it out more with added detail and colors. Although the image is a dark tone I think of it as an acknowledgement of what’s happening with a sense of hope in the sunset and faith that after the darkness there will be another day. Humanity will survive, we’ll be better prepared and hopefully come out of this kinder and more appreciative of the amazing world that we all share.' -JH

‘UNIVERSAL SHAMAN’ by: Jeff Wood • AVAILABLE at NEON-EYE.com • THURSDAY AUGUST 13th (1pm CST) •

Image

Some words from Jeff Wood: ‘Universal Shaman is my representation of the creation story. The original concept for this piece was conceived at Burning Man, the neo-pagan festival held each year in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada which exemplifies rebirth and creation. It is not made to represent any particular tribe or culture, but more to illustrate the importance of the role the shaman, medicine people and storytellers play in all human tribes.
My neo-tribal style is heavily influenced by various cultures around the world and those artists who have illustrated the rituals, myths and customs down through the ages. It's my way of paying tribute to those original visionaries that have inspired me and my art.’

• Printed on archival Cranes Lettra cotton rag
• Hand torn finishing on top and bottom
