When youre talking about $50-$100, $200 posters, the art itself is much more important than when you are talking about $1000-$100000, 200K+ art. At that point, it’s much more about hype and who is pushing it. It’s counterintuitive but I see examples of it allll the time. People buying art at those levels couldn’t care less what the art costs. Imagine a print artist releasing something that looks like a Basquiat today. It would just get ridiculed and sit there.

This chump, mbw, they get that. Right place, right time, right people behind it...sky’s the limit. In fact, the more it costs, the better the chance that it hits.

I love EB but I haven't donated for the new site upgrade for a reason.

There are exceptions, of course.

There are A LOT of exceptions. So many, in fact, that these generalizations are silly. The world of art is huge, and you live in one small piece of it, the part of it that is apparently dominated by a few art forums. And even on these forums, you apparently ignore quite a bit of the available evidence that contradicts your bleak world view. SOME of what you write is undoubtedly true, particularly in reference to MBW. But when you wax poetic about collectors who buy inexpensive prints versus those who acquire art at prices of $1K and above, you strike me as being more jealous and resentful than thoughtful. I thought you were better than that.

Wow, weird take on my words, but you're entitled to your (completely wrong) opinion about me.
