Please use this thread to discuss upcoming releases from the newly launched Cyclops Print Works.
Cyclops Print Works is a branch of Collectors Editions with a primary publishing focus on limited-edition serigraph printed art pieces — which include pieces created for officially-licensed properties from The Walt Disney Company, among others. With the aim of putting out beautiful, memorable serigraphs that are catered to both collectors and non-collectors alike, we work with talented artists that have various backgrounds in animation, publishing, and fine art. Being a part of the Collectors Editions family, we are allowed the privilege of curating even the production process by working directly with Eclipse Workshop – Collectors Editions’ in-house production arm with well over 25 years of experience in producing fine art serigraphs.

I feel sorry for whoever had to print that. It's neat but not 23 colors neat.

a 23 color print for $70 is crazy.
i like the image, its a very well executed classy timeless pixar vibe, but i cannot figure out the 23 color thing. its kinda mindboggling. even struzen was only like 20 colors.

Going to go see the movie this Saturday, hope its good!
Just sounds like a lot of colors and quality for a $70.00 print.

It's because this wasn't originally a serigraph. The characters themselves and the title and not the effects are 17 colors needed. then there are the effects. Then the parts where the effects overlap -- well the artist didn't make it so when they blend they create the color they are supposed to, so that's another color and another pass. Also, the background is another color.
Oh, the printer is Eclipse Workshop, the main printers of Shag (Josh Agle's) work.

Yeah was puzzled at first trying to figure out how they broke down the screens, then actually saw this one on press and it's as crazy as it sounds-- an insane amount of care going into matching the original pixar illustration with overprints etc. The printer is completely mad (in the best way possible). I'm just glad I wasn't printing the f^cker

I'd be curious to know why they went with the deckled edges. Not saying it's bad, I'm just wondering.

Crazy. Not doubting it but it's really fascinating for those of us not in the know. Pretty obvious that seeing this IRL will probably blow away the jpeg.

It's hard to see in the other pics but there is a background layer
And when we showed the artist she liked having the edges deckled to complement the piece. It worked as a double plus since if people also want to float it, it will look pretty neat.
