I’ve really enjoyed the study and portrayal of this new (to me) and beautiful creature and have resolved to step out of my comfort zone and work my way round more of these ‘elegant ambassadors for insects’ in the future. All going well these mini oil and gold leaf paintings will be in my upcoming online sale (earlyish September) #swallowtail #butterfly #insect #oilpainting #goldleaf #originalart

Those are looking very nice. I'm personally not a fan of the pieces done on wood but if she did those on paper I'd try for one (and fail).

I had the same thought. I bet the swallowtail would look incredible on her stained and deckled paper. I'd fail, too.

As amazing and incredible that detail is at that size, the piece is also just so damned delightful. Vanessa works miracles.

The things that happen in my body leading up to the event and following shortly after makes it all worth it, win or lose.

Damn, I read her email wrong and thought the same was Saturday. Not that it would have mattered anyway.
