Might be wishful thinking, but hype is definitely a factor here. I imagine the aftermarket will calm down for the companion piece (haven't even looked at what it's going for). I have the shape var and will do my best to obtain a Laurie but I'm not going to go insane...

I landed an AP last time and this time I guess I'll have to hope there's an AP of the reg Laurie to match the var shape (head explodes). Or try and turn a var Laurie into a reg

I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming Mondo drop was the "regular" white title as a timed edition. Edmiston got the EWAF of Shape/Laurie to be licensed and had them up on his site all weekend - and he kept telling disgruntled people who didn't grab the Laurie poster at H40 to "stay tuned for details".

Whoever is getting paid to license Halloween out is milking it right now and who could blame them. Every single shitty t-shirt company on Instagram seems to have gotten approved to sell crap. And at least 80% of the vendors at H40 were bootleg companies selling bootleg merch.

So I'm guessing either a timed edition regular or a large edition, no way is Mondo going to miss this cash cow.

And I agree, this is all hype pricing - no way is the market going to hold Laurie for what its currently at. Especially if/when a regular white title gets made, you'll have 200 and some people with a orange title that will never be able to get a matching Shape orange title because not enough exist. I hope you're right. I tried to get a Laurie over the weekend on eBay but they seem to be going just as quickly. Here's how EB has the recorded prices:

well the thing is the Shark equivalent would be the first Mike Myers version of this - this print will be in the 250-300 range once the other version get released, i agree sell while you can, dont buy

"The Shark" will stay pricey forever for obvious reasons. While this is a beautiful companion to a very popular piece, it will certainly settle down. ED said it much more eloquently tho

The fact that the Edmiston print is going crazy on the aftermarket and the Gleason print can be had for cost says it all. The zomg mondotard hype is amazing in this community - all these “collectors” need Mondo to spoon-feed them the next new hot release. If the Gleason release was through Mondo it would be right up there with The Shark (or pretty close to it) on the aftermarket.
