Love The Wicker Man, one of my all time favorite movies but the Fantastic Mr Fox is really throwing me off.

Dark City Gallery:

Last year we were given the amazing opportunity to work on two officially licensed posters, for two (1960's) iconic Japanese horror films, 'Onibaba' and 'Kuroneko' both directed by Kaneto Shindô. If you have not seen these remarkable films, I can't recommend them highly enough! Both films share an incredible ghostly atmosphere, which is so unique to Japanese horror.

For this project we were looking to commission an established Japanese artist, someone who had no real knowledge of the alternative movie poster world. An artist who worked within the Ukiyo-e Japanese painting traditions and could bring something completely new to the table. It is with great pleasure and honour we announce that the exceptional Japanese artist Takato Yamamoto has created the following posters.

All posters are limited edition screen prints, 24" x36", priced £70-£85. Available to purchase on Tuesday 11th May at 17:00 (UK time). Please visit Dark City Gallery https://www.darkcitygallery.com

Dark City Gallery:

In conjunction with the Powell and Pressburger estate we are proud to present 'The Red Shoes' by Laurent Durieux! Available to preorder at Dark City Gallery.

We're so excited to finally announce our new poster for the 1948 classic, 'The Red Shoes'. This poster has been in the pipeline for almost ten years! Due to the importance of the film and the number of film patrons needed to approve the artwork, it's been a challenging project to complete. Thankfully with (the master of poster design) Laurent Durieux onboard we were finally given the green light to create the first ever officially licensed alt. poster for this iconic movie gem. Needless to say everyone involved is delighted with the poster.

The remarkably talented Laurent Durieux has created two stunning editions. The regular edition in gothic purples is a beautiful blend of modern and vintage style design. The poster is a 24 x 36 inch, 12-colour screen print, hand numbered, limited edition of 200. Screen printed by White Duck Editions.

For the variant edition, with a strong use of turquoise Laurent Durieux captures the films unmistakable 1940's technicolour, which cinematographer Jack Cardiff achieved with spectacular effect. The colours are so vivid they are almost surreal (and dreamlike).

The variant edition is a 24 x 36 inch, 12-colour screen print, hand numbered limited edition of 100. Screen printed by White Duck Editions.
