You're just choosing to be intentionally ignorant. I'm sure you understand EXACTLY why some people might get offended when you use the word retarded, whether you are talking about a person, their actions, or a thing. If you guys want to hide behind semantics and insist that it's how you use the word and your intent, that's your choice. But IMO, anyone who uses that word is just a few rungs below being a mature adult. Doesn't mean you're a total douche or an asshole or that you actually actively dislike the mentally challenged, it just means you're kind of immature. Personally, I think it's similar to calling something gay and meaning it negatively. There are 100 different adjectives you can use, maybe, MAYBE next time you will choose a different one.

If you MUST use retarded, the least you can do is use retahded, because then you really are making fun of people from Boston, and that's ALWAYS ok.
