Dupe of my post in the other invader thread:
bit of a bummer, would have been nice to see them use lenticular printing to make it 3d with no glasses. pass at $500, looks like i will be hanging the showcard

Im not gonna go into if this is worth $500 or not. Such discussion is pointless, not when we talk about Invader, but pretty much any artist/release out there.
I just wanted to point out that if you see this ONLY as a blurry image, than this is NOT for you. As much as Invader kits are not for people that see them as tile mosaic they can make themselves. However, if you like what Space Invader has been doing all over the world since '98, and you like his latest project which involved sending one of his Invaders into space, documenting it as it floats in the atmosphere, being the first artist that did something like that (as far as Im aware of), than you might find this print interesting. The addition of old school 3D glasses/effect just works great with his entire vintage futuristic image he's working with since day 1.

i dont think the 3d glasses say retro cool to me, given the current mainstream push in consumer electronics. they seem a bit lazy given the number of other ways to go for the same effect. The as a $20 litho with the 3d glasses i think it could be a cool kitschy thing, as a $500 art print, not so much. At the 500 dollar price point i would just hope to see a bit more thought and attention to detail in the print. Perhaps it is one of those things that blows you away when you see it in person and they created an amazing depth, but based on the image and offsetting in the earth and foreground, it does not look like it has a huge depth of field.
I think lenticular lens 3d effects would have been really effective here and probably not cost prohibitive. When done well they can really blow you away

$500...I thought it was 290. Was that 290 Euros? I like the idea, but not at that price.

This and the waffles just show how he's running out of ideas. Granted it's a limited medium to begin with...
pay via paypal, use credit card, file dispute at the 20 day mark if suspicious. don't deal with noobs. don't trade with noobs. request feedback ahead of time. there are lots of good people 'round here.
My 5-year-old son still asks me about the $500 waffle. He doesn't like that I sold it. Invader is huge with the kids these days.wompa164 wrote:The waffle was a really fun idea that confused a lot of people because it was so weird and original. Anyone have a current picture of the waffle? I'd like to see how they're holding up.jjbehren wrote: My 5-year-old son still asks me about the $500 waffle. He doesn't like that I sold it. Invader is huge with the kids these days.

POW are supposed to be releasing one too (in a couple of different colorways). Don't know if it's the one referred to in Invader's post.kansasbbq wrote:Curious to know what the other print is going to be.
