i read the tags in the old work completely differently. The old work was nature reclaiming the landscapes. The tags were remnants of human habitation and decay and were "organic" to the landscape and made a surreal landscape feel real. the tags in some of these extreme environments read to me as a gimmick. I liked it the first time, but like it less each successive time.
