Scored pretty good over the weekend at the thrift store. Solid wood, about 24 x 30, pretty great shape. It's got a really shallow rabbet so I'm thinking it was a mirror frame, but we can work around that. I was hoping it'd be large enough for Only Death is Real, but I don't think it's gonna work, so I might go with the Horkey/Ryan Nunavut print.
Black with a gold fillet painted on and gold caps on the corners, seen some years so they're aged nice...got a really thick profile, which you can't really tell from the pics, the frame will extend about 1.5 inches from the glazing.

Forgot to mention: it was $11. On sale from $16! Unreal. I'm hoping to rip them off a few more times, as soon as possible.

Damn! That's a dream score, those matching square ones especially. What's the window size on those, roughly?

Also that inside rim is a false rim. It looks like it can be removed and that would add 1 1/8th all the way around.

Sounds like a perfect size for some Millward inks...

They are both nice frames but the really ornate parts on the corners are grimey as hell haha. But hey there's no fun in perfect frames hahamistersmith wrote:Sounds like a perfect size for some Millward inks...
So If I took out the false inside frame it would be 10 x 12

I picked up a frame at a rummage sale that I would like to eventually put one of my 24x36 prints in. If I have to go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby for glass, mat, and archival backing... what am I looking to spend. I really like the idea of reclaiming frames but I'm just curious on how much I would be saving compared to just letting my mom and pop frame shop do a custom frame from scratch. Furthermore, am I missing any other expenses or requirements to complete the job. Frame, mat, nice glass, archival backing. Should be set, right? Thanks for your help.
