Reclaimed Frames
Yeah, rattle cans. Rustoleum i think. Metallic silver and dark gray automobile primer.
This is my first try. I'm liking the results. After this one, i'm going to try to actually cut one up and resize it. That was my intent when i found this one, but it turned out to be the perfect size so i didn't get to make any sawdust.

Great job Steven! ...if you end up doing more frame salvaging there are some good products out there made for frame touch ups that would work great for this sort of thing too.
Thanks James!
Rub 'n Buff huh? I'm an old pro at that! ...did i say that out loud?
But seriously though, yeah that looks way easier than what i'm doing.

Really nice transformation. I'd agree that it looks a bit dark right now, but I think that's because of the light mat. Throw a gray mat in there, and I think it'll be greatness.srdzevon wrote:I'm pretty happy with it so far. i think the black might be a bit dark. Kinda wish i'd gone with a little lighter color, but I think it's going to be just fine in the end.

Too bad. I love the smell of sawdust/woodshops - the smell of hardware stores. Yeah, I'm weird that way. It doesn't come close to that new print smell of ink and paper, though.srdzevon wrote: so i didn't get to make any sawdust.
Nice job on the frame. We all need to recycle more often.
I went with a white mat, so it's actually going to be brighter than that old mad in the picture. The frame lightened up quite a bit after that photo. It was taken right after i wiped the whole thing down with a damp cloth and i think it was still a little moist from that. I put another coat of black on the whole thing and resanded, looks pretty boss right now i think.KSUvet wrote:Really nice transformation. That's a great frame. I'll have to get tips from you. Would love to do one myself.
This weekend hopefully. Have to wait on the mat to come in. Apparently they didn't have any white mats in stockmurdock wrote:Get that camera out again, man!
