I don't generally like to bother an artist about things that aren't directly related to their art. But that's a huge white space! I would imagine that if you contacted Sylvia directly she would give you approval to cut the print. If you get her approval, I'd think that cutting wouldn't effect the value of the print.

I'm debating about it. I would fold it over, rather than cut it. Just wondering if anyone has framed it with the massive borders so i can get an idea of what it looks like.

I don't think cutting/folding the borders on this one would do much for the value. And, truthfully, not to concerned with that. Once its framed and on the wall, its just that, framed and on the wall.

Just my .02 but I think folding the borders of the print would effect value. If I was buying on the secondary market and a print had been folded, I wouldn't be willing to pay the same as an unfolded print. On the other hand, if your only concern is getting it framed the way you want it, that doesn't matter.

I'm just thinking along the lines that if folded, it could be restored. Once you cut, it gone. Again, not of much concern right now.

I don't see how the "approval" of the artist would matter in terms of "value", but, personally, I would defininitively cut it. I don't think a hard fold/crease could be restored to "perfection", so why bother...?

Great piece, btw. I have/had a whitewashed oak frame around my Horkey Isis Europe that would be a great fit!

Black Domina had a huge white border too.

Very frustrating trying to decide whether or not to cut it. I ended up selling it because I didn't want to do anything to diminish the value of the print. Sucks because that is by far my favorite of hers. Good luck with whatever you decide!

honest question. if that is by far your favorite, why would you care about the value and sell it? you could have trimmed it, framed it up nice, and then had your favorite piece by her on the wall.

a lot of the older pieces have the same issue with the huge white borders. i own Rose and that print has the same issue. probably why i havent framed her yet. definitely have been tempted to trim it down.

just picked this one up yesterday, even though it is my personal fav of the prints I have by Sylvia Ji it took me a few years to get a chance to have it framed. Framing done by Gizmo's Art of Westminster, MD - think they did a fantastic job!
