this thread is starting to take off, Sperry's Sperrys, whatever

I don't get those custom mats. I see them on EB once in a while. What's up with that?
IMHO, they detract from the image rather than enhancing it.

Looks great to me, I probably wouldn't use one, but thats just a personal preference for plain mats, but that Nick Cave looks awsome!!! Good job.

I've never seen that before (or realized it was one mat). Looks great! i have the parchment variant of that print I'm going to frame before long and you've given me a super idea to work with, thanks!

That looks fantastic.

So...a knowledgeable framer would know the term "custom grooves"?

So sorry, but I'm going to have to steal this idea for a print I want to frame. It's groovy!

I hate it, but they're not mine. I like simple frame work. Let the art do the talking!

That's what I'm talking about... 1 or 2 or in rare instances 3 layered mats with colors peeking out that bring out something in the image, and a frame that does the same... like browntrout's above!

Does anyone have a Mogwai 2009 or Reel Big Fish 2009 framed? I want to get these 2 framed soon, and would love some ideas/inspiration.

I'm drooling at the idea of custom framing the RBFish to my likings.. Tastes very a lot in framing.. I'd be in for a big gold ornate frame see the one for the Zappa Plays Zappa in the pic above.. I'd keep it simple on the mats, yet I'd enhance the red color. I'd match the color of the paper with a cream outer mat and would go red on the inner mat. I need a photoshop lesson.
