Finally, after all this time, finished with my Danger project. If you haven't seen the posts, this is my girlfriend's birthday present, I built the frame from scratch, painted it myself, Daniel threw her a pretty cool doodle, and since we live together in a small apartment it was a struggle to find time to do the work and to keep stuff hidden. Anyway...

Sense of scale on the assembled frame...those black ones are about 42" tall:

Image

There was still some curl to the print, it was a mad dash to get it flat enough:

Over 170 inches of acrylic spacers:

Finally assembled after, like, 8 months!

Gotta paper the back to keep out the dust...gotta use two pieces of paper when you're going this big:

Image

Finally hung:

Fuzzy frame detail:

Shot of the doodle:

Thanks to Daniel for the art and the time, thanks to Sean for letting me use the Babylon Falling floor like a workshop, thanks to bloodthrust for the good deal on the print in the first place, thanks to Robert Bowen for calling in a favor and getting the OP-3 and backing for dirt cheap, thanks to my girl for being awesome and motivating me to do something special and getting me up off my ass.

She still hasn't seen it. She was the only girl invited to an all-gay-guy early Thanksgiving party, and they all got miserably drunk, so right now she's wiping Ketel-scented, turkey-flavored vomit off of a half dozen Philippino guys in pink tshirts and Diesel sneakers. But, you know, she'll get home eventually. And I'll have leftover turkey. I win.

Yeah, except she brought me a huge bag of leftovers, and I woke up excited about turkey, potatoes, gravy, etc for breakfast. Except...they packed the bag drunk, so, there's like 6 pounds of white rice in there, a piece of lasagna, and something brown and wet. Crap!
