dumbass that is a molding made for hanging pictures. picture molding i think it's called. watch hgtv sometime little buckaroo.

Yeah, the crown mouldings in the apartment have a slot for hanging these sweet little hooks, and then you strin gstuff up. I use braided steel wire because it's cheap, if I were baller I'd use fancy fabric cable from Britex or something.

...and if I can ever stop buying art and start paying for framing, I'm looking at about 7 or 8 more pieces to get done. Insanity. At least a few of them are under 40 inches this time, I might have enough wall space for this next round...

I'm looking at places in San Fran right now, and a no holes in the wall policy is a for sure deal breaker...happened 2/5 times thus far

It's unenforcable. You are ALLOWED to hang art, pictures, etc in your apartment, no matter what a lease or a landlord says. You can't Swiss Cheese the place, but anything within reason you are absolutely allowed to do.
