Advanced options for picture frames from FDI

Wanted to let our customers here know we recently added "Advanced Options" to our frame configuration page. This allows you to add spacers or uncut mat board to your picture frame with a simple click or two. You can also add 2-ply rag board under backing in the advanced options to provide archival buffer between the print and the foamcore backing. More details on our framing blog here:

Is the acid free foam backing not enough?

There is no such thing as perfect conservation so it is always about degrees. Enough is based more on how long you want it to last. In general, yes, it is enough but not enough if you want it to last generations, or forever. Foam is not a great product, but it is buffered by using a high quality acid free laminate. Traditional acid free foam is considered conservation grade, but 100% cotton rag board with no laminates or harmful color agents is considered museum conservation grade.
