I'm in the market for a Poster Carrying Case/Tube.

I see some one Ebay/Amazon for 20-30 bucks, but then there are other fancy ones that cost way more.

Basically, I need one for Comic-Con. So I'll be taking it on a plane and I'll need to fit more than just 1 print in the tube.



Your advice on the carrying tube I should get, or advice doing Comic-Con, is highly appreciated!

What's wrong with just a thick/large cardboard tube like some of the obeys?

And it fits 3 tubes (one 24" long tube and two 42" long tube) but doesn't have much room for anything else.

A 4" diameter cardboard tube with .125" thickness and 30" long should handle 3 or 4 any size print you decide to pick up at comic con.

I have a 3" diameter X 25" long plastic tube that i take with me to galleries and concerts. I picked it up in college at an art store for less than $10.

Can't remember if you commented in there or not, sorry, but if you're still looking for a tube, hit me up.

I'd also suggest prepping your tube with several pieces of butcher/craft/whatever paper you choose prior to your outing. Make them fit the tube so that when you purchase, you can safely protect your new purchases from sliding around...

i made mine with a large diameter PVC pipe that you can buy at Home Depot and they also carry end caps that fit perfectly. then i went and bought a strap that's used for carrying yoga mats. it's stronger than any tube you can purchase out there and it was probably cheaper. i also used this during last year's sdcc. hope this is helpful. added a pic.

Some of them telescope, too, if you need them to be bigger all of a sudden.

Make sure you check the carry-on size limits for the airline you are using. It may impact which tubes you can carry. I trimmed one down for a recent overseas trip. If you make the pvc tube, then you can have it cut to the specifications allowed. Plus, you could check it if need be, and not worry as much about it being crushed or dented like a cardboard tube.

i've gotten prints in 7" tubes and will be carrying one around with straps made of zip ties near the end and a velcro strap

You can also buy kinda crappy ones or just cardboard tubes at the convention from the art supply stands (blick's, etc)
