Sam, this is an awesome flat file.. nice work! I love the way the prints look in the drawer. How are you mounting them before you put them in the bag? Are you using a backing board with photo corners then a pre-cut mat on top? Can you post a link to your supplier?

I found these, but they are still kind of pricey: http://www.redimat.com/products/conservation.html

Thanks!

Todd

I was having a hard time finding exactly what I wanted so I decided to build one. I used white laminate to prevent any type of wood grain/veneer "snagging" potential and for a non-assuming look- I wanted the maple drawers to have some pop when you open the outer doors. I built the drawers out of hard maple for good strengh with black walnut dowels to join the corners. Heavy duty ball bearing full extension drawer guides allow the drawers to open all the way for easy print entry/exit. A couple of nickel pulls and a lock finish it out. It has 8 drawers to help catalog different bands/artist. It measures 38" W x 31" D x 32" T. The top makes a great flattening station as well.

Cheers,

Sam

Thanks, I'm really happy with how it turned out :)

Crazy to think they originally painted this thing battleship grey straight from the workshop, when this beautiful wood grain was hiding underneath the whole time!

No problem

Thanks to some prompting by sschmotz, I finally got the locks fixed on the renovated flat file. Works great now, very effective. Luckily the original manufacturer still had some spare parts in stock, which they'd stopped making 20 odd years ago!
