Ok .. I could maybe see some refinishing .. But it is just a large metal cabinet .. some sanding and paint .. other than time and effort I dont see that being a large expense.

It's not. I got one larger than the one from Amazon, had it delivered to me (and up 3 flights of stairs) refinished it and it still cost less than the one from Amazon (and that's before shipping.)

You can see the top and one side are a different type of wood, and the drawers just slide in and out (not on rollers), but the wood is pretty cool. It's huge (54w x 40h x 32d) and I really like the variation in drawer sizes/depths.

Anyone in the Twin Cities looking?

I would kill to find something like that local for $100, and I DO have someplace for it!!

Yes. You can't store your Malleus posters in there or it will burst into flames.

I'm sure that's why the side and top are different wood. It'd be tough to match new wood to the original wood.

What are your guys' thoughts on these? They are offered locally to me for $200. The cap/top is an additional $100. The dimensions are (40"w X 28"d X 15"h) for each.

Remember, an outside dimension of 40 inches means a drawer dimension that can barely accommodate a 36-inch print. If that's enough for you, then no worries. It's not enough for many of us.

Good point, I don't have many prints over 36" in length/width that I don't have framed but it's something to keep in mind. I guess I gotta keep it in mind anyways when deciding whether or not to purchase a print cause of the framing costs. Thanks for the pointer.

Picked up a flat file a few weeks ago from a rummage sale my school put on, greatest five dollar investment I've made in a long time. Me thinks the extra long weekend is the perfect time to refinish it too.

! ... i had the larger sizes with the interior dimension about 45x55 but was too large for the space i had for a flat file and ended up with a pair of the ones in the picture. i think the interior dimensions are about 26x38 which fit most things except a couple faile and miss bugs pieces but i'm hoping those will be framed soon

Would this be something for me to look at? I'll try to talk him down to 250, but it's now time to get one and it's a very stressful process, so many things and so much money. You all know what you're doing, is this a good buy?
