Agreed - especially if you want to collect anything from Mr. Horkey.jjbehren wrote:I'd go wider. I have a couple 40" prints.

Randomly found a flat file for sale on craiglist today for $150, excellent condition and with these dimensions 46-1/2" W x 35-1/2" D x 15-1/2" Hpkoddity wrote:Damn! Very pleased!
I too got lucky with Craig's list. Found one today I wouldn't mind buying. The only problem is the flat file is huge! 53.5" x 41.5" and 16.5" tall. 5 drawer and pics show the condition is decent. The price tag is a steal though for the dimensions. Only $150 but the man made the mistake of putting OBO so I will probably be able to squeeze him down to $100.

I can't get lucky with flat files in Austin
Are these drawers too short? It's 16" high, but has 10 drawers. That seems a bit ridiculous. After factoring in material width and the case size, that's only about 1.25" for drawer height.

$50?! That's unheard of here.
You cannot go wrong with $50. Honestly the only thing you would really need to worry about would be if there was enough space for any weights that you would use on the prints.jjbehren wrote:Are these drawers too short? See, I think summoner's point is pretty valid here. I think those drawers are just too short if I'd need to weigh anything down. I already have another 5-drawer file. Think I'll pass on this one. Anyone in the Twin Cities that wants it, have at 'er.maden wrote:5 2.5" vs 10 1.25". It's a push.
Also, from the picture it doesn't look like there's a top and that can of liquid wrench and a bunch of metal tools have been sitting in that top drawer for who knows how long.

this isn't cheap but it's really nice. Auction is in Chicago & bidding starts at $250 + buyers premium. They will ship it, contact auction house for details. I know stuff like this prob doesn't appeal to most people. Those looking for something classy to store their art in will appreciate flat files like this are hard to come by.
