I have one sitting in my garage waiting for this snow to melt before I start the refurb process. Only a few weeks to go...
Me too, but it doesn't need a refurb. If I get the ones today, I'll have 3. I'm going to start flipping flat files.evilpresence wrote:I have one sitting in my garage waiting for this snow to melt before I start the refurb process. Only a few weeks to go...
Holy fudge. It's a flat file bukkake up here in the Twin Cities. I'm going to pass on the two 5-drawers for $75 if I can land this one:

13-drawer hardwood file for $40!!
I know people have concerns with wood and outgassing, but for $40 I can't pass on that. They say they're hardwood, which should be better, right? Not as moist?

Wow - that wood one looks awesome and is crazy cheap. Good luck!

I haven't got an email back yet, so I'm worried I might have been too late. 55" wide! Might be too big...
That being said, I was just doing some quick research on wood vs. metal, and there are definitely archival concerns with wood. It looks like the drawers are some kind of laminate. If there's particle board under that, I'll have to really think about it.
EDIT: drymount. I was too late on the wood files.

Great deal. I've been trying to find one in Ohio and I haven't seen this good of a deal/quality. For what it's worth. Good luck.

which is preferred by those that have owned both?

Anyone ever come across a 1 or 2 drawer flat file, something that might fit under a bed.
If I could do this: I would haha.

I've had a 10 drawer metal for a few years now, I prefer metal over wood.chan011 wrote:wood or metal?

I just picked this one up today for $75, maybe in a few months my mind will have changed.

Atlanta EBer here looking for a flat file, and this one just popped up on Craigslist: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/bfs/4524540434.html
I'm new to the flat file thing - can someone tell me if this looks like a good deal? Also, is the base something you should get?

seems like a decent price if you need one. (not sure the going price in the ATL for other flatfiles, but here in CA most are going to be over $100 unless you hold out for that rare deal under $100). figure the art you are storing in there is more than $100 so its a good investment.
