I just got an old flat file today. It is 5-drawer steel flat file with internal fabric dust covers.

Regarding storage, what's proper? Is it ok to put a poster directly on the metal? Do I separate each poster with kraft paper (most paper is nearly acid free correct?) My super valuable posters are in mylar but I wasn't sure about my other posters.

That is a nice looking unit. I have been looking for one myself, but the used stores locally want 250 and up. My buddy who goes to auctions says he has seen them go for 50. So I will wait. As for your question I would seperate with tissue paper as you had said. A site is listed on EB that they recommend for those materials.
