Hi all,

Apologies for my newbieness but I'm looking for some advice. I've started to buy a number of screen prints from Mondo/Acidfree Gallery etc and I'm looking for something to store them flat in while I look into framing them. The majority of them are 24" x 36" so I'm looking for something in the A0 region. Also, should I try and find clear polyester pockets or would acid free tissue suffice etc.

Any information to safely store the artwork would be awesome and much appreciated.

As much as I hate the terminology, this is a good solution : http://jonathanfongstyle.com/flat-file- ... ikea-hack/ . for 24x36 they only fit on the top level (feet get in way otherwise) but 1 or 2 levels tall will give you a lot of options. only takes an hour or so to build. Layer in acid-free paper/glassine, boom

Many thanks for the suggestions guys. Due to lack of space in my apartment I'm thinking it'll have to be a acid free box for under the bed. Can anyone recommend one in particular? Cheers

I had the same space issue in my old place.

I simply bought a sheet of MDF wood slightly bigger than 36"x24", drilled holes in all four corners and suspended it from the bed slats with string. Not only did it keep it off the floor and free from dust, it allowed me to still use under the bed for additional storage of shoes, since I could adjust to my liking how far the wood was suspended from the slats.

I have a number of archival museum boxes from Archival Methods. http://www.archivalmethods.com/product/ ... -front-box. No place for a conventional flat file but these work out fine.

That's a great place to look. I use the lineco museum boxes and love them. But I don't think thy make 24x36 and up.

Yeah. I use bags like that inside of the archival box.

i store anything smaller than 18x24 this way, two sheets of plexi with binder clips (rice paper intervals), anything bigger goes in a 30x40 frame stacked with rice paper... I need a Flat File.

I've been storing my print between two 30x40 acid-free foam core boards (or whatever the standard size is, I forget), with each print separated by a sheet of glassine. So like

Foam core - print - glassine - print - glassine - print -foam core

With some artist's tape holding the foam core boards together. This lies flat, of course.

Any thoughts on this setup?
