Greetings all!

I've gotten to the point where I can't fit anything else in my 24x36 portfolio. I won't buy the pages because the sizing is incorrect. Mylar sleeves are incredibly expensive.

I would buy a flat file, but honestly I lack the space at the moment. There's a couple around me with great deals. Just nowhere to put them.

So that leads me to ask. Is there any kind of in between that you guys go to? The only thing I currently have is 2 gigantic acid free mats with prints divided by kraft paper.

There's gotta be something else. Maybe I missed it on one of the other pages, but what do you guys do for storage issues?

Ugh, whatever you do, don't use brown kraft paper in between prints for storage. That stuff is for shipping ONLY.

Big foamcore sandwich with glassine sheets between each print works.

I have yet to find a Flat File in my area so I've been using 2 of these.. One for 36x24 and one for 18x24 sized prints.. They slide under a bed if need be.. I have a lot of extra space so they just sit on a table..

I would also use Acid Free unbuffered tissue paper between prints. I paid 13 bucks for 20 shipped on ebay.. I'm sure you can find better deals..

Check. Thankfully they haven't been there long. I'll go remove them!

I don't mind, I know the guy so it's going to be cheaper for me but $150. I'm getting it simple, 26x40 and about 6 inches tall, one big drawer on the bottom and two smaller ones on top. I don't need anything big or that'll hold a lot.

Depends, do you know someone who can make them? If so, they might do you a deal and charge for supplies and a little tip. If not then depending on how fancy you go you could spend $1000.

Get glassine to put on both sides of the print if you were to get what Brad posted. Or you can get some large 30x40 foamcore from Staples, 8 dollars a piece (I got mine for 2 dollars because they funked up). But always get glassine. And get those large clips from a dollar store, always get them from the dollar store.

So 2 pieces of foamcore, and put glassine inbetween all of your prints top and bottom, and clamp them together with large clips. I need about 16 to go all around the 30x40 foam. In all I spent about $35 in all on the flattening file.

Looks good if you need that much glassine. I got this one

http://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewing/ ... 30065002:s

It says ph neutral but from my research it means the same as acid free.

Hi all, I've been doing research on glassine vs acid free tissue between stored prints, and the company Ashley Distributers in Los Angeles says this about glassine on their site, "Glassine roll comes 36", 48", and 60" wide. Glassine made from a selected chemical pulp is acid free, has a neutral pH and is unbuffered. This "archival" grade of glassine is used for a variety of applications - interleaving between prints, drawings, pastels, book illustrations and textiles, making temporary envelopes for shipping unframed or un-matted works on paper. It is translucent, off white in color. Glassine is not recommended for long term storage.

The part about not being recommended for long term storage alarms me. The acid free tissue paper seems ok, though. I need this for my larger prints because I ordered some "crystal clear" archival bags (acid free, moisture resistant) from Uline, but the biggest size they have is 24" X 30". I'm also going to get some gel packs for my flat file drawers, and some lavender sachets to keep the paper eating bugs out.

I'd appreciate feedback on the acid free tissue vs glassine for in between. Thanks so much! I've learned a lot from reading your posts.
