Hey all
A few weeks back I saw some drool worthy wooden flat files in one of the threads here. I was a dork and didn't save the picture off. They were a lighter wood with a very modern look.

I'm planning on starting a woodworking peoject and I'd like that image for inspiration.

Anyone have modern looking wooden flat files they could post pics of?

This is what I was looking for. The wood was lighter in my head!

EDIT: oh hey that's yours.

You feel pretty confident about the shellac helping outgassing?

I would kill for a set of nice wooden flat files like these. Did someone custom make them or are these for sale somewhere?

I helped a friend out through some tough times and this was his Christmas gift to me that him and his father had built me. I was blown away.

Nice! I'd like to build or commission one that has flip-down drawer faces.

Is there a certain wood you must use for a flat file?

I'd probably stay away from cedar, but most people finish the wood so off gassing isn't an issue. A nice coat of shellac inside would be preferable.

I need to post pictures of the wooden flat file I had made a few days ago, it was stained and waxed so it had a small odor that i'm letting dissipate before I put prints in them. It's about 6 inches tall, two drawers, 26x40 on the bottom, and 26x18 on top. Was it a bad idea to get it stained and waxed? The smell isn't bad, but i'm definitely waiting until I can't smell it until I put prints in them. BTW i'm lining it with glassine, and putting prints in those big bags for extra protection. I'll post pictures tomorrow, it looks pretty cool

So we taking the kids to their grandparents for a long weekend coming up, and my dad has a nice little wood shop. I am thinking I can throw a little one/two drawer file together over the weekend. Any tips for the best kind of wood to use or would it best to line with metal? Will post pics if I can pull it off or at least get something started
