A while back I posted a video showing how easy, and clean the reversal process is when you remove a wheat paste hinge. It was titled "Wheat Paste...seeing is believing" and the link is below:

EB member maddoghoek100 noted that managing the moisture from the wheat paste and understanding how papers might react are important. So to give you an idea of how that is done I've posted the video below on vimeo.

I used an iPad to do the video and I'm not sure why it's so narrow. If you prefer to view the video directly in vimeo so you can go full screen and maybe see with a little more detail the link is below:

i understand the paste on the etching but why not just use acid free tape to to hinge the mulberry paper to the backing?

The bond with the wheat paste is incredibly strong. Essentially I'm crating an acid free tape with the mulberry paper and the wheat paste. So there really isn't any reason to introduce another (acid free) tape. I work in a museum and we don't keep or use other sorts of tapes for hinging works on paper. This is the method accredited museums typically use for works on paper.

And I could have gotten away without reinforcing the hinge especially with a print that small. But I always feel better taking the extra step whether it's needed or not.
