ISO 24x36 Acid Free Portfolios

Also, does anyone know where to get some quality mylar corners? I can't find any in the Nashville area stores (Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc.). I did find a roll strip of corners that are used in scrapbooking, but they are not very sticky and I don't think they would hold up in a 'folio. They are used for 3x5 and 4x6 photos I believe.

I've always just ordered mine online - can't find 'em anywhere around me so it was/is the best option. I'd bet that folks in larger population areas could get them but not here...
bagsunlimited.com is usually my first option (although I still prefer the strips over the corners since you can trim them easily and there is little chance of dinging up a corner sliding them into the mylar tab - just bridge it over an edge of the print.

They have them at Dick's Blick but they aren't like the Iatola's more like just a folder. But they will fit posters if you mount em yourself and put them in poly bags.

I apologize in advance for the dumb question, but how do you use these mounting strips? Do they stick to the backs of your prints and the mounting surface? My fear is putting something sticky on the back of a print could tear off the backings.

There is a sandwich created by the adhesive backing portion and the mylar strip. The print slides into that tab created by it - no adhesive should come anywhere near the paper (since there is only one adhesive surface and that has to attach to the backing, don't see how it could really).

can you cut them easily, as in purchasing the 12" strips and making them into three four inch strips? It saves quite a bit of money on them, but i'd be a little upset if it didn't work and i could only do 15 posters per box of 12" strips

definitely. imho 2" segments are fine, spaced every 18" or so (min. 2 per side) assuming normal paper weight. the one pictured in the wiki page above is less than 2", and there are 2 per 24" vertical side (the print fits the portfolio sleeve exactly in the vertical dimension, so no horizontal holders were needed).

to avoid "bunching" with lightweight paper stock, using Japanese hinges is a preferred method imho. but that is for a framing thread, not a portfolio thread...

this is the one i got a few months back. i talked to the guys at jerry's and they said it was all acid-free. i've been nothing but happy with it, but are you sayin the pages are vinyl...and is vinyl not acid free?

and pick up a 6 pack of Itoya portfolios for $130 (with free shipping). My set took about 2 weeks to arrive and was drop-shipped straight from Itoya too but at $21-22 shipped per folio, ya can't beat it.

What the frig is up with this link? Whenever I try to purchase the 6 18x24 portfolios, I get this: "Due to unresolved procurement issues, we are no longer offering Sheaffer pens." wtf?
