Hey All,
Has anyone gotten scans of their prints made for insurance purposes? What service did you use? How much did it cost you?
Thanks

Most scanning machines are automated and don't involve someone manually recreating the item being scanned.xbrc wrote:Is there a bot to make the scans go faster?

Ever hear of receipts?
Yeah, from what I've gleaned from the site (from collectors and oddly artists) insurance doesn't really care about the print itself as much as proof of the sale value. Haven't ever seen or heard folks ever getting stuff scanned. Again, just from what I've gathered when the topic of insurance comes up.

Oh, alright. Thanks. Is it possible to insure something for the replacement cost instead of the original purchase price?jkw3000 wrote:Yeah, from what I've gleaned from the site (from collectors and oddly artists) insurance doesn't really care about the print itself as much as proof of the sale value. Not sure, I had read that another member had scans done, so I thought would be the correct route, but maybe it's overkill?acidfree wrote:Would a simple picture or video not suffice?

Yeah, I'll talk to my agent. Still curious about anyone's large format scanning experiences. Seems like it's more uncommon than I first suspected.Codeblue wrote:This might be a good question for your insurance company. Should totes create a bot to send them an email.
Yeah, insuring art that increases in value is tricky, better to chat with an insurance agent. Couldn't imagine scanning being all that common, if only because folks on here would probably be too anal retentive to let some random dude at kinkos handle their older Stouts.
