How anal are you about 'condition'?
Hi guys,
I just received the first batch of some prints I got from members here and on eBay but noticed some imperfections on my prints unfortunately.
Some are minor issues while the one on my Spirited Away print is very apparent. I am quite OCD about things I collect and always handle my prints with latex gloves on while in the process of storing them between my acid free foam-cores + glassine papers; so I am wondering, am I too picky or are these issues commonly acceptable in the collecting community? I have come to accept some things such as the occasional tiny white dots though. :p
Here are some photos I took of the prints I just received recently:
Mononoke Variant:
This kind of line I got when I received my Totoro Variant last year as well. Not really visible unless I analyze it up close though.
The dark ink makes it more apparent.
The Mononoke print is supposed to have this sort of haze / mist effect on the top and bottom, right?
Again, from afar things look fine. I think I am just overly sensitive perhaps due to the dark ink, not really that bothered since things should look fine once framed like my Totoro print.
Watchmen Variant:
Perfect, no noticeable issues from the front from afar.
Bottom corner has a noticeable crease if you look on the back though.
(Not sure if caused during shipping or not, tube was pretty tight in terms of length when I opened it)
Back has ink mark, but I don't really worry about this; no one here cares about this do they?
Spirited Away Variant:
Noticeable mark by the upper left edge even from afar.
It looks to be some pencil line or pencil crayon? I am not sure. Is this easily removable?
Right edge has some minor wear (doesn't really bother me much).
What do you guys think about these issues? Are these just common occurrences that one has to deal with when going into this hobby?

These are the only 2 that would bother me in the least. Try removing the mark using a gummed eraser. http://forum.expressobeans.com/viewtopi ... 3&t=101129Leshita wrote:

Wow, you are actually giving some insight. WTG Yeah, only that creases would I find issue with, the others are just characteristics of screen printing. But, not sure what kind of mark that is, of where it came from, but would try to see and use the gummy eraser.

You should go to a print shop and watch them actually make your prints. I guarantee you would be horror-stricken at the way everything is handled.
Also, no printer in the history of ever has worn latex gloves during any part of the process.
