It's great when I receive an order from someone who is willing to give me free rein to experiment on their custom order. This set really tested my skills, but after a couple of do-overs...I'm happy with the result. I gave the oval inset some depth on these. This was a fun set to make.

Great News!

I will be adding unfilled PennyWeight bags at my store. Just think! It only takes $2.00 in US penny rolls to fill each bag yourself. This means I can ship flat - that will reduce shipping costs and has more weight per bag than the original baglady bags.

Are foreign coins rolled the same outside the U.S.? What do you guys have...like...half-pence rolls? I need to research foreign coin - US penny roll equivalent.

My site is currently down for maintenance. I will update soon. Meanwhile, some details on the 4-roll bags.

I'm telling you...PennyWeight bags are such a good idea! I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I've been brainstorming like crazy to bring new products to the store. Penny rolls can be acquired just about anywhere...bank, grocery store, convenience store on the corner...etc. Heck! Raid your parents coin jar. Ha-ha!

No need to buy anything special to fill them with.

Just to make mention, the Moss set (pictured above) was mailed to Canada. Making bags to ship flat will open the way for shipping outside the US.

P.S. I could use some help in determining how foreign coins are rolled. Anyone? Canada, UK, AU, etc.

Man...updating my store is so time consuming. Last thing to do is update shipping charges. I should have my site running late tomorrow or early Saturday morning. I'll post an update. 8)

Sometimes I do things...just because I can. Gave the phlegm some color while working. Heh.

I wanted to try the 'relief' technique I used on the moss. I used this phlegm image since it was easy to work with stitching around the lens, telescope and black frame. Did it work? Yes. Not as cool looking as the moss, though. Too much work and not enough reward on this one.

8) I'm pretty proud of it. Thanks. There is an extra cushion/pad that I added to the bottom of the new 14" bag.

I made my first bags, for personal use, back in 2010. I used member quotes, from EB, and added some fun graphics to go along with them. Good times. 8)

I wanted to see how much it would cost to fill long bags with copper coated BBs.

1 pound = 7000 grains

I'm assuming that 6000 on the bottle at amazon equals 6000 grains (@ $7.65/free ship'g per bottle).

So, if I've done the math correctly, on the cheapest end - it would cost aprox:

$19.00 to fill ONE 14" bag to achieve the same weight as 8 rolls of pennies @ $4.00

$9.50 to fill ONE 4" x 4 1/2" bag to achieve the same weight as 4 rolls of pennies @ $2.00

$4.00 to fill ONE 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" bag to achieve the same weight as 2 rolls of pennies @ $1.00

8) Thanks!

In the past, I worked at a fine jewelry manufacture for 4 1/2 years. We weighed all precious metals in pennyweight (dwt) to determine the cost of making a piece of jewelry. So, fun fact...another reason for the name PennyWeight for the bags.
Word Origin and History for pennyweight
n.
Old English penega gewiht, originally the weight of a silver penny; see penny + weight (n.).
