Hey,
Having seen the various threads related to print storage and in particular those that refer to US sites, I wondered whether anyone from the UK may have any suggestions where the best place to buy a flat file/something reasonably cheap to store prints in?
Thanks

ebay
Search for 'plan chest'. Also try searching for 'map chest' or 'architect drawers', etc. The term 'flat file' isn't really used in the UK.

The one above looks pretty much the same as mine. I bought it from ebay, same battleship grey. Looks like this now, after some serious renovation...

Thanks for the advice suchanoo appreciate it!
I actually used to live in Liverpool before moving to NYC - actually bought a flat file from a 2nd hand furniture place at the top of Aigburth Road (guy runs it out of the old church there) he was always really helpful and if he didn't have anything in, he'd be able to get his hands on it within a week (he's a scouser...goes without saying ) As I recall, it was only about 50 quid...this all may be meaningless as it was a good few years back, but you never know - if he's still there and you're in the area, you could always ask.
A lot of the same advice from the threads here is also valid there too though - call around architects' offices engineering firms and see if they're going/have gone digital - you may find a place that just has one lying around that they can't find anyone to come and take...(they can be a b*#ch to move!!)
Good luck!!
