What tubes do you folks usually use to ship posters? I may have to ship a few out and was curious if I should just get some from staples or? Any particular types of tubing better than others, etc?

Any advice would be helpful guys

DSky

You will want to use at least a 14 gauge ply tube
Do not recommend using Staples or store bought tubes

If you squeeze the tube and it gives its not a ship worthy item-must feel solid
Re-use a tube if any have been shipped to you via artists, ...

Hope this is helpful
Good Luck

Fact of the matter is that some artists and galleries are known to utilize "thin" tubes for shipping.

If you're looking to buy a quantity (20 or more) then I'd suggest getting a box from yazoo -- yazoomills.com. Another option is U-Line which also deals direct to consumer, but I think that more folks prefer the Yazoos on the whole. Again, go for at least a .10 wall thickness (and most folks even prefer a .125 or higher. These are on Yazoo's site under "mailing tubes" and then either heavy-duty kraft or white tubes. Many folks doing extensive shipping will also consider the "Multi-pak" options - consider what sizes and paper thickness/types you'll be sending...

Agree. But use thicker walled PVC with a 4" or 5" piece cut to appropriate length. If a gorilla gets hold of something with a thin wall and it cracks, say adios to the art. And hello to an insurance claim.

I've got to send out a PVC tube pretty soon here, and I'm curious about this...how do you guys cap off your PVC tubes (4" specifically)?

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong spot on their website...but are you guys referring to my question? I don't need tubes, I need a way to cap off PVC, so maybe I have misunderstood you

It looks to me, in the picture above, that they used regular PVC type end caps.

Yazoomills wont sell anything to cap off PVC.
