Slays might be a tad heavy handed, but the Isley Brothers certainly funkify this one:

Huge SRV fan here, btw.

Thought some of you might enjoy seeing a young talent many have never heard of. Mad skills well beyond his years.

If you've ADHD or ADD or whatever, maybe groove the 1st minute or two, then skip out to about minute 5:30.

FWIW: Steckle usually sings too but this clip features another group backing him.

Some of my favorites.

Spoon covering Jay Reatard. I love both version of this, but I prefer the Spoon.

Devo's satisfaction cover. Not saying it's better than the OG, but Devo took a classic tune and made it there own.

IZ knocking out Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Credit for taking a song that kinda lost impact, because every has heard it a million times, and making it new

Sonic Youth covers the hell out of the Fall. The original is also great, though.

Patti Smith made Gloria one her trademark songs

Mark Kozalek covering ACDC.

Sebadoh covering Nick Drake. It bears mentioning that at this time in the mid 90's, and long before the VW commercial, Drake was pretty much forgotten

D'angelo took a song that I thought I didn't like and made me like it.

Not sure this slays the original as I never got to see it performed live with the original line-up...

...but these guys have no problem slaying the hell out of most anything they fancy.

I always defer to someone who's wearing a beater, regardless of what else he's wearing.
