Felt like an old school Obey drop for a while there - never got any confirmation from PayPal through checkout but an email magically shows up confirming my order on the LP box set.

I'm not a huge Dead fan, but that May '77 set looked too good to pass up. I must've been one of the last people to get an order in. It sold out a lot more quickly than I expected! Do these usually sell out quickly, or is it just because this is a special set?

They just added an unlimited non-numbered box set with all 4 shows. Good old GD and Rhino redefining limited edition and raking the cash in. They can say any bullshit they want. They already announced on 2/16 in the newsletter that all these shows will be released on ALAC and FLAC. Totally money grab and big drymount you to the collector community. People have already started canceling their orders. I'm on the fence. Before they released the music only cd copies, I intended to keep this sealed and download the flac's from my favorite pirate. Now I'm thinking of saving myself $150 and just going Jolly Rodger on their asses. I'm tired of giving GDP money, unless it's investment related, and no i never insta-flip anything of theirs or any band i love. Rant over.

To be clear - I'm not pro-stealing their remasters. Just don't find it necessary to buy when there are perfectly good mixes of circulating gigs as is.

The Plangent Process on the official remasters is becoming a differentiator for me. The '73 Boston Garden is stunning. Up to now I have, admittedly, agreed with Fredo. Though I'll wait to hear these new mixes in their sonic splendor before I pass final judgement on this new archival process. Check out the PP web site.
