Performances will be hot.

The best ten minutes of the tool shows I attended over the years were sans Maynard.

kind of blasphemous, no?
i would nt expect a long performance at these things, but i dont know. im thinking more like the vip soundcheck. id like to go, but seems way too expensive without a full concert to go with it and missing Jimbo.

I've been to a couple of the VIP sessions with just Adam and they were about 1.5-2 hours with Adam being there for .75 - 1 hour I imagine with all 3 it will be closer to the 2 hour mark. I wish they had some closer to me. I would love to hear all three and I would go for sure.

All sessions save 1 are sold out. Assume 100 tickets at 500 a pop each one show is $50k and 300K for the 6. $100k each, for chatting with fans and practicing their songs is my kind of payday!

True lots o' money on merch. And I was incorrect on being sold out. The tool army presale appears to be sold out, the general sale starts tomorrow...

Really looking like the music clinics are going to be well worth the cash... Even without MJK. My understanding is they got there around 6 and finished up at 11:30 (no idea how much of that is with the band)

Some questions and answers during the clinic session that people have posted. Here are just a few...

Q: How do the songs change when Maynard comes and writes his vocals?
A: They don't change at all, Maynard comes in and writes vocals that fit incredibly well without changing anything or asking for any adjustments to the instruments. In the past, Maynard was involved in writing the instruments, but they have learned that it's best to have each band member have their own clearly defined role.

Q: why don't you change your set list up? As you can imagine, there was a lengthy response.
A: To summarize: if Justin, Adam, and Danny feel sick or they're hungover, they can still perform. Maynard, as the vocalist, is simply unable to do so. Certain songs are drymounting horrible for his voice. If they want to do these difficult songs, they have to make adjustments like lowering the pitch in which Maynard sings. See: The Pot. Also, songs that they related to and wrote when they were young and angry just don't translate to who they are today. They feel as if performing certain songs would be like acting like they are who they were 30 years ago and it wouldn't have integrity.

New album tidbits...
- The band confirmed that drum tracking is done and said they are recording to tape for the analog warmth it provides. So far, scratch tracks for vocals, bass and guitar were also recorded. These are typically just recorded as guidance for other instruments before the final tracks are recorded.
- Every song is over 10 minutes long!
