Ween is a band ive never really got into, though I find Roses are Free to be a great song to play and to listen to (when phish plays it at big cypress for 33 odd mins in one of the most unique jams of that weekend and that era). I recently read about their "origin story" and I am wondering if its tounge in cheek or if they actually are in some pact with an entity of some sort and just are honest about it. One would figure it is obviously a joke but the way i find it presented is...interesting. Anyway if there are any tru fans that would care to edify me on the subject, it would be interesting to hear a take from someone in the scene.

feel free to ignore this post : )

I bought tickets a couple of weeks ago. Haven't seen them since night 1 at Stubb's in 2017. I didn't go to night 2 and was in line at mondocon still riding the high from night 1 and being lazy. I missed all five parts of the stallion. I've felt that pain every moment since

Figured out yesterday afternoon via setlist FM, that they were that weird opening band for Foo Fighters I saw back in 1996.
Pretty sure they kept getting weirder?

The earlier stuff is for sure the weirdest. I initially though they had some weird voice effect thing going until i saw them in the concert for the first time. Nope, Gener actually sings in those voices unadulterated. They have only become more cohesive over time, but still they are absolutely weirdos. In the early 90's i subscribed to a monthly VHS tape full of new music videos. This was the first place I heard ween:
Rock Video Monthly - Alternative, July 1993
Belly - Slow
Dog Butthole Surfers - Who Was In My Room Last Night?
Dinosaur Jr. - Out There
Duran Duran - Come Undone
Goo Goo Dolls - We Are the Normal
Gumball - Accelerator
PJ Harvey - 50ft Queenie
Billy Idol - Shock to the System
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Someday I Suppose
Ween - Push th' Little Daisies
This right here though is one of my favorite ween songs, 7.5 minutes of pure slinky funk:
