Saw him twice in 85 when he backed Dylan on his tour. They had their own sets in between Dylan collaborations and solo. Great shows. Saw him 20 years later, Jackson Browne opened up for TP. It was like being put in a coma. By the time TB&HB came out, I was fast asleep line a baby. Whether it was JB or some other factor, from then on, I felt TPs recordings had more life than his live performances.

My favorite local radio station here in town is declaring today Tom Petty Day in honor of his birthday.
