And they pounded the Wings... and Ovi is ONLY tied for 2nd on team scoring... And Vokoun is killing it (and I said this signing was THE steal of the off-season... so did lots of people, but I still said it)...

They're SCARY good right now. Too bad the Pens will end up representing the East in the Cup...

Still, great start.

Some good games tonight boys & girls... the highlights (imo):

Caps @ Oilers - Caps looking to stay undefeated vs a young and talented Oilers team off to a great start

NYI @ Pitts - Another young team off to a decent (3-4 is good for the Isles c'mon) start, the Isles are suddenly fun to watch! Holy shit!

TO @ NYR - TO are not as good as their record suggest... Kessell ALWAYS has hot streaks... If anyone thinks he'll score 50 this year, forget it! They've given up more goals than they've scored... that's not a promising sign for a 5-2-1 team. Reality will set in soon

And THE game tonight:

Montreal @ Boston - Patches vs Chara... no, not really, but that's of course the hype. Why do you need to hype a Boston / Montreal game? These are ALWAYS can't miss games!

Patch should give Chara a nice slash to the ankle as part of a "hockey play".

Sens won tonight.

And let's not forget the cat and mouse game between the Jets and the Flyers. I'm just glad the Jets are winning some games.

LUCIC!

I'm not sure if I love what he did - I am not sure if I hate what he did.

I'm sure I hate what he did, but you got to expect that from the new bruins.
Lucic especially won't turn down an opportunity to injure.

Just another hockey play is their stock excuse for whoever will believe them. But once again the extra arm push gives away the intent to injure.

The hit was very effective, only put the B's in the box for 2min. It shut down the Sabers and lifted the Bruins to their 5th straight win. Surprising how the Sabers just wimped out after the hit on their goalie, they collapsed into their own end and never regained consciousness.

Really? He could have really laid into him if he wanted to injure him. He didn't lower the shoulder, if anything he eased up. Don't get me wrong, I agree that he was penalized, but man, it wasn't that bad.

I personally think goalies playing the puck 30 feet in front of their net should expect some physical play.

And what about Miller's stick swipe? Funny how he called Lucic's play gutless ... but what if that stick connected on Lucic?

Seriously, look again. There was no speeding up but certainly no easing up. The play on the puck was long over.

And a goalie is no longer a target even out of their crease.

It was a dirty play and a penalty was rightfully called.

And, yes, Miller is no angel for that wimpy stick swipe.

if a goalie wants to come all the way out to a faceoff dot to play the puck, he should be fair game. playing it behind the net is one thing, but miller came out far enough that he should be treated as a regular player. and if Lucic really wanted to hurt him, he would have. plus he only hits miller in the shoulders, yes i know his helmet flew off but have you ever worn a goalie helmet before? they come off surprisingly easy. you can even see miller raise his shoulder like regular skaters do when they are about to be hit, which causes his helmet to fly off. i understand that goalies dont know how to properly absorb a hit, but he looked like a punter that gets blocked in football (a retard). so thats why the hit looks bad. but i dont have a problem with the hit, he hit him high, but if Lucic really wanted to hurt him, he very easily could have.

i do believe Chara should have been suspended for his hit on Pacioretty, but the "new bruins" is a bit of a reach. they arent the flyers. they simply proved to the NHL how to beat the canucks in the playoffs last year. push them around and be physical because the canucks are all babies and wont do a thing about it.

A 4 point night is nothing to sneeze at, for sure. Especially after being out for so long. I kept flipping back to the Pens-Isles game between stoppages in the Caps game and he didn't look rusty at all from what I saw. It'll be interesting to see how he does against a more competitive team. I'm looking forward to the Caps-Pens game on Dec. 1st even more now.

And to my fellow Caps fans: Rally pigeon is retired! All Hail the Rally Balloon!
