New rankings are up. France jumps 6 spots and takes over the top. Russia up 21 spots. Hard to believe they are still at 49 and were at 70! Croatia up 16. Germany down from first to 15, luls. Not that any of it really matters.

Russia is so low because of the crappy way that the rankings are calculated. Only tournament/qualification matches count to the points total (WC, Euro's, Copa America, etc.) and since Russia didn't have to qualify they got no ranking points in the previous 2 years. They were playing pretty poorly anyway but basically every other team that qualified by default had more ranking points from qualifying matches than them....but like you said, it really doesn't matter anyway!

‘Ronaldo not best player is ridiculous!’

Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent claims it is ‘ridiculous and shameful’ that Luka Modric won UEFA’s Men’s Player of the Year instead of the ex-Real Madrid forward.

Ronaldo’s 15 goals helped Madrid win a third straight Champions League last season, but the Juventus new boy only claimed the Forward of the Season award during Friday’s group-stage draw.

Ronaldo was not present to accept his accolade, and Jorge Mendes’ remarks seemed to give credence to the common consensus that it was because of Modric taking home the best-player gong.

“Football is played on the field and that’s where Cristiano won,” Mendes told Record.

“He scored 15 goals, carried Real Madrid on his back and conquered the Champions League again.

“It’s ridiculous, shameful. The winner is not in doubt, as Ronaldo is the best in his position.”

Lots of class by the agent in his comments and the pretty boy himself not showing up all together. Funny how the dude said it himself that the pretty boy is the best "in his position"

Emery has been a nice change of pace, 16 in a row unbeaten with some key defensive injuries is a feeling we haven't had in a while. Like the trajectory we're going at and think we have a decent change at top 4 again. Liverpool and City are still out of our class, but think we are closer to Spurs and Chelsea this year.

If we keep on the trajectory we're at, I think even Liverpool is in range; Man City outclasses everyone.

It's been a refreshing change. I was a huge Wenger supporter, but it was well past time for a change and it's paid off well. We'll see where we are at the end of the season (and how Emery does in the January trade window) but I like the position they've put themselves in.
