We were watching this in a college football Discord chat and ended up in a small debate.

My take was just simply: if the other horse had finished second or third and lodged the inquiry, fine. But they didn't. The lane shift didn't end up with any trips nor did it affect who won the race. I wouldn't have changed the result. Letter of the law vs. spirit of the law and letter won today.

Obviously, technically there was a foul but it didn't effect Country House. Personally, I would hate to want to win like that. There's a lot of money involved and what not, but to take the win in that manner is a little cheap. But that's just a personal thing and many people are fine winning that way. As said above, if it were the other horse then I would have a different opinion but nothing happened to Country House (imo).

My wife is bummin, changed her 2 dollar no knowledge bet from country house to long range toddy while I was on the phone making said bet. Doh!!

side note did all NBC feeds miss the first 1/2 to 3/4 of the race so they could squeeze in that danica patrick spot? five hours of coverage and miss the start of the actual event is a pretty epic fail
