quite hypocritical to not want to go to a team with a history of Japanese stars if he goes to the Mariners...

Mariners made a small deal with The White Sox a couple weeks ago that gave em some extra IFA cash so they must know they've got a real shot at landing him.

I'd be totally ok if he went to any team on that list not named The Dodgers.

With their payroll, the genius of Friedman, their prospect list and their # of good young players already on the 25 man roster, Dodgers have a real shot at being a dynasty team with the addition of a player like Ohtani.

EDIT: I just saw your post above mine

Or the Dodgers if he's looking for a "small market" team

hoping all the best for him, he'd be better off on an AL team that he can DH and pitch. but wouldn't surprise me if he ends up in SF or SD playing RF on his days off and pitching. Padres would be his best bet, they've got nothing to ever play for.

I think by his arbitration years, he will end up being a SP only. but someone remember this quote years from now and prove me wrong.

Here is what the 7 teams can offer money-wise:

Rangers -3.5 million
Mariners - 1.5 million
Angels - 1.3 million
Giants, Dodgers, Padres, & Cubs - 300,000

I think he ends up in the AL West. The Mariners and Angels have some terrible future payroll situations coming up. Texas or Seattle will land him.

Money isn't a factor according to everything I've read.

Cardinals haven't had any problem letting pitchers pinch hit in the past...but yeah AL makes the most sense.

Wanda: I can't stand people, I hate them. Do you hate them?
Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

Yeah he (or his agents) has contradicted himself a # of times already. I still think all signs are pointing to Seattle but it's all just a guess with this guy it appears

I think your going to see my Astros pick up another starting Pitcher to compete for the 3rd/4th spot. Pretty sure a few of these guys are going to get paid and some of the team won't be back. I'm most concerned with them adding some arms to the BP obviously. Next season can't come soon enough.

Boone's contract is for 3 years and a club option for a forth year. Larry Rothschild is staying on as pitching coach as well.
